“Up high I feel like I’m alive for the very first time. Set up high, I’m strong enough to take these dreams and make them mine.”

 Welcome to my personal experiment.

First off, this blog isn’t about how to compete in an IronMan. It isn’t about the 12 step program to quitting drinking or how to lose weight or learn anger management. It is, however, about taking responsibility for all the garbage in your life. It’s a test of my theory that setting a goal and taking action to achieve it has side benefits greater than the goal itself. This is about the pursuit of happiness and finding sense of self.

I won’t get into the long, messy story of my past – you’ll probably pick that up in my blog. My aim is to share my two year journey of becoming healthier, in both mind and body, while preparing for an IronMan race in 2011. A competitor has to complete the race in under 17 hours(hence, sub 17). In order to do this, I must be healthy, focused, balanced, confident, patient, positive, and develop strength and endurace. Only I can make that happen.

I’m hoping my story will encourage others to set goals and kick their demons in the butt. Remember, the goal is sub 17, but the journey to get there will be the true reward. If you want to come along for the ride, I have lots of room on my bike.
