I’m still around

I survived my holidays but I am wiped out. Now it’s time to get back into the program and get serious. I spent a whole week eating, drinking and getting by on very little sleep but I still managed to bounce back this weekend. Thank God. I have a little under two months to my first sprint race.

I realized I have a lot to blog about but between catching up on work and work outs, I didn’t have much time to write in here. But that being said, I know it only takes a few minutes so I’m going to have to work this in my schedule – like brushing my teeth.

First off, I found out about a Canadian athlete who will be competing in the ski-cross competition in the 2010 winter olympics. Chris Del Bosco holds a dual citizenship and has overcome a lot of personal obstacles to get to where he is today. I could relate to him. I don’t know if I have the same level of issues with alcohol as he did but the way I see it, if he can do it, so can I. End of story. Anyway, I managed to squeeze in the work outs I needed before I left for holidays and this weekend, despite being Easter weekend, I ran outside for the first time in months thanks to the lovely weather we’re getting. I only did 7.25 k but I did it in 42 minutes. Not bad for someone who hasn’t been running on pavement in months. I also swam 54 lengths yesterday (accomplished 750 m in 17 mins) and today – taa daa – I actually used that road bike outside. I fell twice but I know why I fell. (anyone starting out with bike clips, unclip one foot BEFORE you stop!) but I am unscathed.

I promise I’ll write in here more often. I will try to do it at least 4 days a week. The battle of my demons is tough but I’ll make it. Right now I don’t see any hurdles in the distance. That could change but I know with each one I clear, I will get stronger.
