Blasted red wine

I did it again. It was a tough week and a few things happened that I didn’t mention yesterday. Monday night Marc and I got into an argument. We don’t scream and yell – we just get really quiet. I guess that’s a good thing because it means you just can’t talk or you’ll say something you’ll regret. Tuesday morning I said I didn’t want to fight with him and I just needed to think things out. No sense in getting into what it was about but it wasn’t worth fighting over – and neither of us was wrong or right. He just needed to think and I flew off the handle (which I’ve been doing a lot lately). Tuesday night was about family and Wednesday I worked on a project until midnight and barely slept.

So last night, I thought I’d treat myself and Marc with a nice home cooked dinner and a bottle of wine. Except I drank all the wine. I also had three double vodka ceasars while cooking dinner. Marc went to bed because he had to work the next day and since I didn’t, I kissed him goodnight and said I was going to watch a movie. I finished the wine. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up with a warm beer in my hand – about three sips taken out of it. I don’t remember grabbing the beer. I didn’t think I was that drunk but maybe lack of sleep and a bottle of wine wiped my memory clean.

Okay – today is a different day. I’m upset with myself but I sucked it up. I drank a liter of water mixed with a NUUN tablet, ate some breakfast and went for an hour long workout – 20 mins on the eliptical and 40 minutes on the treadmill – and sucked back more water of course. I did pretty good. Felt good. I ran 3.83 miles in 43 minutes so not bad considering the alcohol I drank the night before.

At least I know I have the advantage of being able to still perform well on little hydration. Ha ha! Yeah – not funny 😉

Tonight I have a birthday party to go to – “rock star” theme. I’ll survive. I have to drive home. Keep your fingers crossed!
