Getting the spark back

I ran on the treadmill for 32 minutes yesterday and it felt great – mentally anyway. It’s amazing how quickly your legs get used to sedentary living. As I was running, I could feel the pull in my right ankle – an injury I wound up with last year training for my marathon. My fault – just bein lazy when it comes to stretching or not realizing I should be stretching on days where I don’t even work out. But the worst part of the run was this pain at the bottom of my foot close to the joint between my baby toe and the next toe. It still hurts today. It feels like something is trying to work its way out of my foot. If it was on the heel, I would gather it’s plantar fasciitis – unless that can happen in the toe area. I’ll have to do some research.

Today I’m going to bike for 45 minutes – unfortunately on the recumbant bike to keep weight off my shoulder. I feel it’s getting better but it’s still stiff and sore first thing in the morning. Best not to aggravate it. But I think I’m going to attempt a swim tomorrow. I was looking at my Ontri training schedule and it got me motivated to get back into this – maybe that’s what I need to do to get my butt in gear. I just have to remember the old saying, early to bed, early to rise. And avoiding a lot of alcohol should help me sleep 🙂

In between, I’ve been working on my logo for my new business (writing and desktop publishing, virtual assistant services, a little PR for small business and independent professionals). I’ve been working with a musician in Brooklyn and she likes the designs I sent her for her bio layout so it’s given me a boost. But I still have to make sure I keep a healthy balance. I can see the temptation to work work work when you have a home business.

Anyway, off to the gym.
